People often tell us that they remember when Steve and Leo worked as a comedy team. "You guys were really funny," many of them say. "Are you still performing?" others ask. The answer to the latter is, "No." As for the former comment, we can't say whether we were really funny or not. People laughed at times. We remember that. A lot of shows the audience just sat there and stared, their mouths agape. We remember that, too. When we started toying with the idea of putting together this site, we decided to go through our old tapes and let people judge for themselves. So here's some old Steve and Leo stuff. Are you laughing? Are you staring? Either way... it's out of our hands now. Enjoy.
Steve and Leo
Steve and Leo on "Caroline's Comedy Hour" hosted by
Carol Leifer
On
October 7, 1990 Steve and Leo appeared on A & E's "Caroline's
Comedy Hour." This set features their "Substitute Leo" bit. It's safe
to say this clip hasn't been seen in over 15 years.
"The Steve and Leo Show"
In
1990,
Steve and Leo starred in a pilot for a late night talk show for ABC.
This clip
is one of the bits we did. It's a commercial spoof. And as an
interesting sidebar... it should be known that we coined the word
"spoof." Prior to 1990 "spoofs" were simply known as "not really a
commercial." This clip has never been seen because the pilot was
not picked up. If you claim to remember seeing it on TV... you're
delusional.
"The Steve and Leo Show"
Later in the
show, we did a call-back. Of course they weren't known as "call-backs"
back then. They were referred to as "do-agains." We can't be sure,
but we believe that we coined the term"call-back." At any rate...
here's the second not really a commercial.
"KAZOO MAN"
A regular part of "The
Steve and Leo Show"
was a bit where Steve did a solo kazoo number. Friend and fellow
comedian, Mark Nutter, was inspired by this bit and wrote a song about
it. They video taped the song. This tape was never made available to
the public... until now. Enjoy.
